Justerland is a new and impressive initiative concerning cultural heritage, nature, historical landscapes, living history, theatre and sustainability. This theatrical theme park, situated near Alkmaar, a major city in the North-Western part of Holland, will tell the surprisingly internationally orientated history of the Frisian people who lived in North Holland in the period between the first and tenth century AD.

Justerland is a historic park that tells the history of North Holland in the period of the year zero to 1000 AD. This is an underexposed period about which there is much more to tell than you usually encounter in history books or in similar parks. Central is the so-called North Sea Culture which covers Northern Netherlands, England, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and northern Germany. It's about the related language, the trade around the North Sea, the cultural influence, the way how the North-Holland inhabitants, the West Frisians dealt with Romans, Batavians, Franks, Vikings and Anglo-Saxons.

We certainly like to explain about the tension between the nature religion of nature versus the the new religion of the first centuries, Christianity. What impact, both positive and negative, had the new faith on culture, nature and landscape?
