Conference: Lifelong learning in open-air museums

Conference: Lifelong learning in open-air museums

This year Skansen celebrates its 125th and Vallby Friluftsmuseum its 95th Anniversary. Together they invite to the eighth Conference of the workgroup Lifelong learning in open-air museums in Västerås and Stockholm (SE) on  September 14th-17th. This is a great chance to meet many colleagues from ethnographic open-air museums.  The theme is “Heritage for all”. Who is represented in our open-air museums? Who is not? Does everyone have access to the heritage we show? Is what we put on display comprehensible to everyone? Is it relevant to all? Who defines what is heritage and what is not? How can we improve our exhibits and collections? Is it even possible to include all? More information CLICK HERE.

These are open access and are book, festival and conference reviews as well as a discussion on using knives in archaeological open-air museums. The other six articles are reviewed and for members only. These are about volunteers in open-air museums, broken legs, hammers and thousand years of experience with decorating textiles with metal spiral tubes.  More here  HERE
