Midsummer is ancient history in the Nordic region. Already in ancient times, the longest day, the summer solstice, was an important feast. We celebrate the return of summer, fertility, mystery and love. On Vitlycke, we celebrate this day with an exciting and mysterious program.
We start 13:00 adorning the Maypole, our maypole, according to old local Bohuslän tradition. You are welcome to help, if you bring flowers, you are especially welcome.
18:30 we raise our Maypole and listening to folkfrom around the world. Maybe we take a turn. When we get hungry for , the Cafe moved out to the farm and is ready for grilling.
Later that evening when nature abounds with magical powers, we end with a torchlight procession to the sacrificial bog where the essence and goddesses from times long past are hidden in the mist. If we are lucky, we may get to meet the Norse goddess Nerthus.
Warm welcome to Vitlycke Museum and the World Heritage Tanum rock carvings.
